Youth Choir Visit to Cinderella Pantomime
Every winter simply has to include a visit to see a pantomime. Luckily for us, the PCC agreed, and in recognition of our hard efforts and music making from the year, sent the Youth Choir of St. Margaret's Church to the Churchill Theatre (in Bromley) to enjoy the absolutely dazzling performance of Cinderella. The line-up included Steve Guttenberg as the Baron, Helen Lederer as Fairy Godmother, Laura Hamilton as Cinderella, and Mark Evans as Prince Charming.
Unfortunately, our Choir Trainer, Clare couldn't join us for this momentous theatre visit, although both Carol Cooling and Brian Shilling took members of the Youth Choir to see the matinée performance on Saturday 6th December to take pleasure in the sing-along songs, dazzling dancing, sparkling sets, and a spectacular transformation of the pumpkin to the horse-drawn carriage (with real Shetland Ponies!) - perfect pantomime magic!
There were however, two comic characters who radiated the most humour, and they were undoubtedly the Ugly Sisters - played by David Langham and John Barr as "Peaches and Pixie" respectively - who, from the moment they arrived at Bromley North Station, injected zany enthusiasm; and despite the more "mature" jokes at times, we all enjoyed this wonderful social way to mark the years' singing.
Our gratitude goes to the PCC and our organist, Brian Shilling for organising the outing, and as a token of our appreciation, we will do our absolute paramount to electrify people throughout this Christmas season and in the New Year with our choral performances.
