Royal Scarecrow Building Workshop and Bunting Challenge

As part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Halstead and Badgers Mount, we're hoping that locals will create and display outside their homes royal-themed scarecrows. These will be displayed in the run up to the QDJ weekend and prizes will be awarded for the most regal! We're also planning a Scarecrow Parade as part of the Family Fun Day on Monday 4th June.

The March workshop will be a fun and informal event designed to help get the creative juices flowing, and to provide some 'structural' hints and tips. It will be hosted by Dot Wooder and other members of the Halstead Players, who have already immortalised Henry VIII (in scarecrow form at least!). Henry will be joined on the day by Prince Charles in a Norfolk outfit. Everybody is welcome to attend this free workshop - young and old alike.

Also at the workshop, the WI will be showcasing their handy work so far on their royal ‘bunting challenge’. They are attempting to break the record for the longest bunting in the world (as documented in the Guinness Book of Records) by as much as a quarter of a mile - aiming for 2 miles' worth of continuous bunting!

Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to put their mark on this historic piece of handy work. Sewing machines and tape will be provided! For more information on the workshop and / or to confirm attendance, please contact Dot on 532355.
